Behind The Scenes: Our Walk-In Closet

Now, before you start asking, “where are your clothes?!’ in my walk-in closet photos, let me tell you the story behind it. When Tony and I were building our house in 2024, we literally settled the ‘who-gets-the-closet’ debate with a good ol’ game of rock-paper-scissors.

Our walk in closet personally is used mostly for function. We like to keep it neat yet not overly obsessive. If there’s at least one thing you need in your walk in closet then that’s shelving. Having at least one rack that is higher than eye level is important for a builder grade walk in closet without any extra touches. It’s also important to note that we chose 5k recessed lighting in our master walk in closet 🙂 These lights are so bright that you don’t really loose any potentially missing socks.

Last but not least, there’s one item nobody really thinks of until you’re in my situation. So as someone who is more petite there is one item that has helped me GREATLY with my walk in closet and even the laundry room. Don’t forget a mini stool! Mine is a foldable stool and I’m so happy I got this. With modern craftsman style houses the ceilings can be much higher so having a mini stool is a lifesaver!
